Equality PAC Statement on the Death of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) released the following statement on the unexpected death of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. 

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Richard Trumka, a fierce defender of the worker’s rights across the United States and a lion of the labor movement,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “During his time as President of the AFL-CIO, Richard made sure LGBTQ workers were a strong facet of the modern-day labor movement. By pursuing this path, Richard did more than any other labor leader to diversity the movement and stand up for LGBTQ workers. We send our condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, and those who are a part of the AFL-CIO family during this incredibly difficult time.”
