Equality PAC Slams House Passage of Politics Over Participation Bill

Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Ranking Member Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 734, the Politics Over Participation bill, which discriminates against trans youth who seek to play sports.

“The trans community across the United States deserves dignity and respect,”said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Ranking Member Mark Takano and Congressman Ritchie Torres“This discriminatory law does the opposite. It tells trans youth, who already struggle with significant mental health challenges, that they don’t belong. Extreme MAGA Republicans are hell-bent on doing everything they can to demonize the trans community and put a target on the back of trans children. This is why we need the Equality Act, so we can prevent this discrimination and protect trans youth.”
