Equality PAC Praises President Biden’s Executive Order Reversing Transgender Military Ban

Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and  Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) praised President Biden’s executive order ending the ban on  transgender individuals being able to openly serve in the military. Former President Donald Trump  originally implemented this discriminatory ban in April of 2019.

“Trump’s ban on transgender individuals serving in the military, not only made our country less  safe, but it was a cruel policy written up by a man who took every possible opportunity to  discriminate against the LGBTQ community,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark  Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “Like all members of our military, our transgender  troops are patriots and deserve our respect and gratitude. Thank you, President Biden, for taking  immediate action to reverse this shameful, and discriminatory policy.”

Equality PAC is the political arm of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus and is dedicated to  the full legal and societal equality for LGBTQ Americans. All funds raised into Equality PAC are  spent supporting and electing openly LGBTQ individuals and strong LGBTQ allies to the United  States Congress and Senate who are committed to passing the Equality Act and to ensuring full  civil rights and protections for all LGBTQ Americans.
