Equality PAC Endorses Lauren Baer (FL-18), Chris Pappas (NH-01), and David Richardson (FL-27)

Washington, D.C. – Equality PAC, the political action committee founded by leaders of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, announced the endorsements of three LGBT candidates for Congress:  Lauren Baer (FL-18), Chris Pappas (NH-01), and David Richardson (FL-27).

“These three candidates represent the best of the best of LGBT candidates,” said Equality PAC Chair Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA).  “They have all served their communities and this nation with distinction.  Equality PAC is proud to endorse Lauren, Chris, and David.  They will make exemplary members of Congress.”

“Lauren Baer has spent her life promoting the values of this country at home and around the world,” Takano continued.  “Whether fighting against big money in politics or for LGBT equality, Lauren knows how to get things done.  Her work supporting our nation’s top diplomats and strong, long held connection to her community in Florida make her an excellent choice for the voters of the Florida 18th.”

“I am proud to have the endorsement of Equality PAC just as I am proud to be running as a member of the LGBT community,” said Lauren Baer.  “When Congress represents the diversity of America, we all benefit.  The fight for justice and equality is a common cause among all Americans, and I look forward bringing this fight to Congress when I represent the people of FL-18 next year.”

“Chris Pappas’s roots in New Hampshire go back generations,” said Takano, “The reason the voters have chosen again and again to send him back to New Hampshire’s Executive Committee is because he knows his community and puts the needs of the people first.  Chris is well positioned to be the first LGBT member of Congress from New Hampshire and Equality PAC is proud to give him our support.”

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the Equality PAC,” said Chris Pappas.  “Their work to build a Congress that reflects the diversity of the American people is a mission I will champion if I have the honor to represent the people of NH’s first district in Washington.”

“Rep. David Richardson is a tenacious fighter for the people of Florida,” said Takano.  “In addition to taking on the for-profit prison system and strengthening free, public education, David has fought for LGBT equality since his first days in the Florida legislature.  That he already represents a significant portion of the FL-27 and his grass roots support shows he is ready to lead.  We are proud to endorse his campaign.”

“I am incredibly honored to receive Equality PAC’s endorsement for my campaign for Congress,” said David Richardson.  “As one of the preeminent organizations dedicated to bringing about full legal and societal equality for LGBT people, I look forward to working with the caucus as the next Congressman from Florida’s 27th district. As the first-elected openly gay state legislator in Florida’s history, I look forward to taking the fight to Washington, D.C. and ensuring the LGBT community has equal protection and opportunity across the United States of America.”
