Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) released the following statement condemning Republican attacks on reproductive rights in light of decisions by the Supreme Court which chip away at Roe v. Wade.
“We are deeply troubled by actions taken by the conservative activist wing of the Supreme Court which chip away at Roe v. Wade, further restricting access to essential reproductive health care,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “For many years, Roe v. Wade has been considered to be “super precedent,” meaning the decision should be near impossible to overturn. However, the conservative activist wing of the Court has decided to slowly chip away at the rights guaranteed in Roe v. Wade despite this fact. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, other landmark decisions related to LGBTQ rights will be next on the chopping block. We must fervently speak out against any effort to overturn Roe v. Wade to protect the rights of all minority groups in the United States.”
