Equality PAC Celebrates Senate Passage of Respect for Marriage Act

Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) released the following statement celebrating Senate passage of the Respect for Marriage Act. The Senate passed the legislation 61-36 on a bipartisan vote.

“We are grateful to Senator Tammy Baldwin for her dedication to getting the Respect for Marriage Act through the Senate,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “We are also deeply appreciative of the bipartisan group of Senators that came together to pass this commonsense legislation. The Respect for Marriage Act puts in place important protections for gay and interracial marriages while also providing security for millions of families across the nation. We urge House leadership to bring this legislation up for a vote as soon as possible and to send it to President Biden for his signature.”
