Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC announced that Emmy Award winning actor Eugene Levy will be a 2025 recipient of the Nancy Pelosi Equality Ally Award. This prestigious annual award, presented by Equality PAC, recognizes extraordinary allies of the LGBTQ community who have proudly, relentlessly, and without hesitation stood up for LGBTQ individuals and their rights.
“Eugene Levy has long been a champion for inclusion, representation, and equality,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Ranking Member Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY). “Through his work on and off screen, Levy has helped amplify LGBTQ voices and narratives, ensuring that stories of love, identity, and acceptance reach audiences worldwide. His role in Schitt’s Creek—a groundbreaking series that depicted an unapologetic and joyful queer love story—was not just entertainment; it was a powerful statement about what true acceptance and allyship look like. Beyond his work in television and film, Levy has used his platform to speak out against discrimination and advocate for policies that promote LGBTQ rights. Whether supporting marriage equality, standing against anti-LGBTQ legislation, or uplifting queer artists and creators, Levy has shown that allyship is not a passive role—it is an active commitment to justice and equality. In a time when LGBTQ rights continue to face threats, allies like Eugene Levy play a crucial role in the fight for equality. True allyship means more than just words; it means using influence, privilege, and visibility to create real change. It means standing up when it’s uncomfortable, speaking out when others remain silent, and ensuring that the LGBTQ community is seen, heard, and protected. We are thrilled to honor Eugene Levy with this prestigious award and recognize his genuine commitment to the LGBTQ community.”
Levy will receive the Nancy Pelosi Equality Ally Award at Equality PAC’s annual National Pride Gala on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Washington, DC’s historic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. This is Equality PAC’s largest event in terms of attendees and fundraising each year and will be held during World Pride in the nation’s capital. Previous recipients of the Nancy Pelosi Equality Ally Award include Academy Award and Golden Globe winning actress Mary Steenburgen, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Ted Danson, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.
Equality PAC’s mission is simple: to elect more LGBTQ+ persons to Congress — individuals who will have a seat at the table, impact the debate, and humanize the LGBTQ community’s concerns. All the funds we raise are used to elect and re-elect LGBTQ persons to Congress and secondarily support strong LGBTQ community allies who will proudly and unapologetically stand with us in the fight to pass the Equality Act and equal protection under our nation’s laws.
In the short time that Equality PAC has existed, Equality PAC has played an unmatched role in making history for the LGBTQ community, electing LGBTQ leaders at the federal level such as current House Members Sharice Davis (Kansas); Ritchie Torres (New York); Becca Balint (Vermont); Robert Garcia (California); Eric Sorensen (Illinois); Angie Craig (Minnesota); and Chris Pappas (New Hampshire). And in 2024, Equality PAC helped elect Julie Johnson (Texas); Emily Randall (Washington); and Sarah McBride (Delaware).
Equality PAC has been instrumental in winning key races that have determined control of Congress because we know that without pro-Equality majorities, the progress our community has made and the civil rights and equal protections we have fought so hard for, and are still fighting for every day, remain in jeopardy.
