Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC named Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) to serve as an Equality PAC Board Member. She will replace former Equality PAC Co-Chair and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), who resigned from Congress on June 1st.
“We are excited to welcome Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren to the Equality PAC Board,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Ranking Member Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY). “From her start in Congress, Zoe has been a strong defender of LGBTQ rights, whether it has been standing up to bigotry or advocating for passage of the Equality Act in the House Judiciary Committee. Her experience in recruiting candidates and identifying winnable seats will help us expand the Equality PAC’s membership and increase LGBTQ representation in Congress. We want to thank Zoe for agreeing to serve in this important position and look forward to working with her to advance our equality agenda.”
Lofgrenrepresents the 18th Congressional District of California, encompassing communities in Santa Clara, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties. Lofgren has received numerous awards for her work on immigration, health care, technology, LGBTQ equality, transportation, and women’s issues. Zoe was most recently honored locally for her steadfast commitment to trans rights. She currently serves as the Ranking Member on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and was first elected to Congress in 1994.
