Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) released the following statement recognizing Transgender Day of Remembrance.
“2021 has been the deadliest year for members of our trans and gender non-confirming communities, tragically breaking records from all previous years,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “To date, 45 transgender individuals have been murdered across the nation. Each one of these lives lost leaves a gaping hole within the LGBTQ community that can never be filled. Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and loved ones of each of these individuals. On this solemn day, let us come together to reaffirm our commitment to protecting transgender lives and fighting for full equality for our transgender community.”
Equality PAC is the political arm of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus and is dedicated to the full legal and societal equality for LGBTQ Americans.
