Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) announced the endorsement of former State Delegate Heather Mizeur for Maryland’s 1st Congressional District. Mizeur is running to unseat incumbent Republican Rep. Andy Harris. After leaving the Maryland House of Delegates, Mizeur founded Soul Force Politics, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the worsening divisions in American politics and civic life.
“Time and time again, over her many years of public service, Heather Mizeur has bravely gone to bat for the LGBTQ community, even before others would do so,” said Equality PAC Co-Chair Chairman Mark Takano. “As a member of Congress, she will be not just a reliable vote on key issues for us, but a leader and a champion on a range of issues important to communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.”

Heather Mizeur has spent her professional life over the last twenty-five years passionately engaged in public service. Heather was known as a legislative powerhouse during the eight years she served in the Maryland House of Delegates. Before her election to the Maryland General Assembly, she served as U.S. Senator John Kerry’s Domestic Policy Director for four years and was the principal architect of his 2004 presidential campaign’s health care reform agenda. Today, she is a small business owner and farmer, and lives with her wife Deborah on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
