Equality PAC Marks International Transgender Day of Visibility

Washington, DC – Today, Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) released the following statement marking this year’s International Transgender Day of Visibility.

“Trans visibility must always be celebrated, but this year, as states and countries have taken steps to harm their trans communities, today’s day of visibility means so much more,” said Equality PAC Co-Chairs Chairman Mark Takano and Congressman David Cicilline. “It is no secret that the “T” in our LGBTQ community has been historically neglected, cast aside, and ignored. This must change and together, we need to uplift trans voices, hear their stories, and act to solve their concerns. Through passage of federal legislation like the Equality Act, we have a chance to ensure federal protections for our trans community. Equality PAC remains steadfast in our support for members of the trans community and will always work to ensure they can live in a world free of discrimination, hatred, and bigotry.”

Equality PAC is the political arm of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus and is dedicated to the full legal and societal equality for LGBTQ Americans. All funds raised into Equality PAC are spent supporting and electing openly LGBTQ individuals and strong LGBTQ allies to the United States Congress who are committed to passing the Equality Act and to ensuring full civil rights and protections for all LGBTQ Americans.
