Equality PAC Endorses Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Board of Directors announced an endorsement of Darren Soto, who is running for re-election to Congress representing Florida’s 9th Congressional District.

“Equality PAC is proud to support Representative Darren Soto for re-election to Congress,” said Equality PAC CoChair Rep. Mark Takano. “He is a key ally in our mission to bring full legal and societal equality to all LGBT people. Our Board Members serve with Darren in Congress, and we’ve found him to be a passionate and effective advocate for the LGBT community in Florida and beyond. He fought to protect transgender students in his community in the face of President Trump’s assaults on their rights and dignity. He fights for workforce and housing protections. And he has stood with our community in the face of violence, discrimination, and every other challenge.”

The purpose of Equality PAC is to work to bring nearer the full legal and societal equality of LGBT persons and creating a legislative environment that is conducive to that goal. The Board of Directors is chaired by Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) and Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA), who are both Co-Chairs of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus; and board members Reps. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-CO) and Mark Pocan (D-WI), also Caucus Co-Chairs; Reps. Dan Kildee (D-MI) and Joseph Kennedy, III (D-MA), Vice-Chairs of the Caucus; and Caucus members Reps. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Elizabeth Esty (D-CT), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Derek Kilmer (D-WA), Grace Meng (D-NY), and Gwen Moore (D-WI).
