Michele Rayner

State Representative Michele Rayner is running to serve Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Michele is the first and only LGBTQ Black woman to serve in the Florida Legislature and, when elected, will be the first openly LGBTQ Black woman ever elected to Congress. She is running to succeed Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist, who is retiring to run for governor.

Michele Rayner serves as a Florida State Representative, representing Florida House District 70. Born and raised in Pinellas County, Michele is a widely respected civil rights attorney and social justice advocate. Before this, Michele served as an Assistant Public Defender and Legislative Aide. She also served as counsel for the local NAACP Legal Defense fund. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Fred G. Minnis Bar Association, and the NAACP. Michele and her wife, Bianca, live in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Michele is running in a St. Petersburg-based Democratic open seat that Biden won by 4% in 2020. Her Florida House District overlaps here and she currently represents the highest propensity voting part of the congressional district.

Michele is the first and only openly LGBTQ Black woman to ever serve in the Florida Legislature and, when elected, will be the first openly LGBTQ Black woman ever to serve in Congress.
