Becca Balint is the Vermont State Senate President – but first and foremost, she is a mother. She is running for the open Vermont-At Large House seat. This House seat is often a dress rehearsal for the U.S. Senate – which could make Becca only the third LGBTQ woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate. Before her election as Vermont Senate President, Becca served as the State Senate Majority Leader and worked as a public school teacher. She is the first woman and first openly LGBTQ person to ever serve as the Vermont Senate President. In the State Senate, Becca has led the charge to invest in affordable housing, ensure a livable wage, secure paid family leave, enshrine reproductive freedom and LGBTQ rights into the state’s constitution, and so much more.
When elected, Becca will be the first woman ever elected to federal office from Vermont and also the first openly LGBTQ Member of Congress ever elected from Vermont.
